Nigeria: TCN Appeals for an End to Vandalism

  • TCN appeals to host communities over the vandalisation of electricity infrastructures.
  • The national grid has been restored.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on Monday appealed to host communities to refrain from vandalising its infrastructures. Engr. Dr Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz appealed during his visit to a vandalised Tower No. 104, along Odukpani/Ikot Ekpene 330kV transmission line in Oku Iboku Community, Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

According to a report by The Independent Newspaper, the agency noted that the vandalised tower caused a sudden loss of 400MW from the grid, causing its collapse on Friday, 8th April, 2022.

TCN, however, assured that the grid has since been restored.
