NIGERIA: TCN Begins Nationwide Network Rehabilitation

In a statement issued by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), the state-owned transmission service provider has commenced rehabilitation works on its network nationwide.

The TCN has begun the rehabilitation and replacement of circuit breakers on its network infrastructure. The exercise aims to improve bulk power transmission to the distribution load centres nationwide. The rehabilitation of these old Circuit Breakers in the nation’s transmission network.

The General Manager, Public Affairs Ndidi Mbah, in the statement, noted that the rehabilitation works commences at the 330/132kV Ajaokuta substation in Kogi state. However, the rehabilitation will extend to all substations that are more than 20 years old.

“In line with TCN’s quest to further improve the capacity of its workforce, it assigned its engineers to work directly with the contractors to ensure hands-on training and practical skills transfer.” Mbah said.

“Proper retrofitting or replacement of the circuit breakers will ensure that they operate optimally for the next 15 to 20 years,” she added.

“TCN will not relent in its efforts to maintain, repair, and replace power transmission equipment, as well as install new ones to ensure a more stable and efficient transmission of bulk power to the distribution substations nationwide”, the statement read.
