TCN assures Nigerians of efforts to ensure grid stability
- Applauds President Buhari’s commitment to the sector
- Delivers new transformer to Kumbotso Sub-station
The Acting Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Sule Abdulaziz has reassured Nigerians of its commitment to ensuring a stable national grid. He gave the assurance during a media chat with newsmen in Abuja.
Abudlaziz while speaking recalled the recent system collapse and the rapid restoration time with which the collapse was handled. “We had one system collapse earlier and the second one which is yesterday’s partial system collapse in the last eight months; this has never been the case in the power sector history”. “I can confirm that the grid recovered from the latest system collapse in just 45 minutes”. He also commended President Buhari and the Minister of Power, Sale Mamman on their commitment to ensuring a reliable electricity sector” he added.
While commending the President and the Minister of Power, Abdulaziz added that the TCN is working towards ensuring a collapse-free national grid. “This shows the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of Power, Engr. Sale Mamman towards bequeathing an improved power sector to Nigeria; we are working hard towards zero system collapse”, he said.
On the efforts of TCN to improve the transmission network, Abdulaziz added that the TCN had delivered a 60/66MVA and 30MVA transformer to Sub-stations in Kumbotso and Bichi both in Kano state.
