- Transcorp to increase available capacity at its power plants
- To increase average available capacity by up to 843MW
Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp) Plc has announced plans to increase the generation capacity at its power plants to 843 Mega Watt (MW). The Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Owen Omogiafo made this known during its Quarter 3 2021 Analysts Presentation and Investors Conference Call.
The ongoing upgrade and repairs at Transcorp Power Limited (TPL) and Trans Afam Power Limited (TAPL) will ensure an increase in the generation capacity at both power plants. As a result, Transcorp plans to increase the average available capacity at the TPL plant to 677MW and 166MW for the TAPL plant. Currently, the average available capacity for the TPL is 539MW and 120MW for the TAPL plant.
”Given the gap in the sector and the increasing demand for electricity, the power sector remains an attractive investment choice. Our plants are undergoing significant upgrades and repairs that will significantly increase the available capacity by December 2021.” Omogiafo said.
“We plan to have an extensive engagement with TCN towards resolving several transmission challenges which are affecting our generation and evacuation capabilities,” she added.
