Nigeria’s National Grid Restored to Full Operation

  • Nigeria’s national grid is fully restored.
  • Security agencies address pipeline vandalisation.

According to the Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, the national grid, which had collapsed twice in two days, has been fully restored. Aliyu made this known during a press conference with journalists in Abuja following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The Minister stated that a series of emergency meetings convened by the electricity sector yielded various decisions, in which all stakeholders discussed the issues in-depth and settled all disagreements. He noted that security services are working to combat the threat of vandalism of power infrastructure.

“The government is doing everything to avoid pipeline vandalism in coordination with the relevant security authorities. Despite the challenges, we are progressing, and the grid is being fully restored.” The administration is seeking all Nigerians’ cooperation while efforts to increase and stabilize electricity supply across the country continue,” Aliyu said.
