Novelis Inc, a US aluminium firm, partners with Norwegian renewables company Statkraft for green power. The 10-year agreement covers two German manufacturing sites in Nachterstedt.
Statkraft will supply around 58 GWh of electricity annually from German wind and solar parks. This transition aligns with Novelis’ goal to cut carbon emissions by 30% by 2026. The move aims for carbon neutrality by 2050 or sooner.
The shift will cover up to 40% of the facilities’ electricity demand. Emilio Braghi, Novelis Inc.’s Executive Vice President, praises the partnership. He sees it as a step forward on their sustainability journey. Deliveries start on March 1, marking a significant milestone, highlighting the importance of collaboration for environmental progress.
