NREA Plans 60GW Green Energy Production in Egypt

  • NREA plans land acquisition for renewable energy development in Egypt.
  • The proposed plant will have a capacity of 60,000MW of clean energy.

The New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) has disclosed plans to acquire land for the deployment of renewable energy in Egypt. The government plans to accelerate the development of renewable energy technologies in the country.

The proposed land will be used to construct a 60GW green energy plant. The land is located in several regions of the land of the pharaohs. In the Zafarana region on the Red Sea, NREA has 6.5 km2 of land, including eight plots for projects in operation and one plot for a project under construction. One remaining plot is available for any other project. These plots of land can be used by state-owned companies and independent power producers (IPPs).
