- Japan’s solar project to cut GHG emissions by 10,000 tonnes annually.
NTT Anode Energy Corp has been contracted in a power purchase agreement (PPA) by Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo Inc. The agreement is in line with a newly constructed solar power plant, which will help NTT Docomo supply its Okayama building with renewable electricity from April.
Based on agreements, NTT Docomo will be exclusively fed with electricity from NTT Anode Energy’s solar park located in Tottori City. In the case of a power shortage, the agreement will see that non-fossil certificates designated for renewable energy are purchased.
The contractual agreement comes as part of efforts being taken by NTT Docomo toward cutting its greenhouse gas emissions to almost zero by 2030. Based on the announcement, the development will help the Okayama building reduce its GHG emissions by about 10,000 tonnes per year.
