- REA approves Okra Solar’s mesh-grid technology for OBF subsidy.
- The approval comes under the $550m intervention program launched by AfDB and World Bank.
The Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria (REA) has approved Okra Solar’s proprietary Mesh-grid technology for Output-Based Funding (OBF) subsidy under its $550m intervention program. The Nigeria Electrification Program (NEP), launched in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the World Bank (WB), seeks to provide subsidies for energy developers.
The NEP’s two key components, Performance-Based Grant and the Output-Based Fund, have collectively spurred growth in the sector for developers deploying solar mini-grids, solar home systems and energising educational institutes. In addition, it will now include mesh-grids for the first time.
