  • The project aims to improve the power supply, boost the economy, and support local communities.

Lincs Power Energy Solutions has begun constructing a 5-megawatt electricity project in Ondo State to provide stable and reliable power. The energy firm is working with the Ondo State Government to improve electricity access and reliability across the state.

On Thursday, April 3, the company held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction. Mr Otinniyi Micheal, Project Manager at Lincs Power, announced that the project would later expand to 20 megawatts. He explained that the plant would deliver consistent electricity to Ondo State and neighbouring communities.

“This project will transform the power landscape in Ondo State,” Micheal said. “We plan to scale up to 20 megawatts to meet growing demand. We appreciate Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for backing this partnership.”

Mr Olumbe Akinkugbe, former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s senior special assistant on ICT, facilitated the project. He highlighted the power plant’s positive impact on local development and quality of life.

At the event, Mr Akinkugbe described the project as a significant step forward for Ondo West Local Government and nearby communities. He explained that steady power would boost the local economy and improve residents’ quality of life.

“This groundbreaking marks the start of the construction phase,” he said. “We are confident that Lincs Power will keep its promise and deliver. The plan to upgrade the power output to 20MW is also in motion.”

Akinkugbe said that with better electricity, small businesses, schools, and healthcare centres would all benefit. He added that access to power is key to development and thanked the community for their early support.

In a message from Governor Aiyedatiwa, delivered by Special Adviser on Energy, Mr Alabi Johnson, the government expressed appreciation to Akinkugbe for his dedication to the project.

The governor urged the community to support the construction and protect the infrastructure, saying it would bring long-term benefits. “This project shows what we can achieve with public-private partnerships,” the governor stated. “We are committed to creating a brighter future for Ondo State.”
