Gabon has signed an agreement with independent hydrocarbon producer Perenco for a new gas-fired power plant in Mayumba. Announced by Gabon’s Minister of Petroleum and Gas, Hon. Vincent de Paul Massassa, the MoU will include the installation of a gas collection network and treatment facility, with a 32km gas pipeline to the town’s M’bya power plant.
This project is set to create over 500 local jobs and is poised to reduce gas flaring and bring reliable electricity to approximately 80,000 households.
Also, under the deal, the Central African country’s power utility, Gabon Power, will construct a distribution network and a 90kV high-voltage transmission line from the plant to the city of Tchibanga 20kV low-voltage line to Mayumba.
