Photon Energy, R.Power Signs Hybrid Storage Plant Deal in Poland

  • Photon Energy and R.Power signed a deal to optimise Poland’s first hybrid solar and battery system in Nehrybka.
  • The AI-driven project will boost grid stability, enable market participation, and advance Poland’s energy transition.

Photon Energy Trading PL and R.Power Renewables have signed a strategic agreement to optimise the first hybrid solar and battery storage (PV + BESS) project in Poland.

The project, located in Nehrybka in the Podkarpackie region, combines photovoltaic generation with battery storage to improve the flexibility and resilience of the national grid.

Furthermore, under the agreement, Photon Energy will manage real-time energy flows between the solar plant, the storage system and the grid. The company will act as a balancing party and ancillary services provider, allowing the hybrid asset to participate in spot and balancing markets.

The partners said the system will store excess power during peak solar production and release it when demand rises, reducing exposure to negative power prices and supporting grid stability.

In addition, Photon Energy mentioned that optimisation will rely on automated tools and artificial intelligence forecasting on 15-minute cycles to identify the most profitable strategy.

The Nehrybka project marks what the companies described as a step in Poland’s energy transition, moving from solar development toward integrated renewable and storage solutions.
