- Members of a community in Enugu protest over blackout.
- Claim the community has been disconnected from the electricity grid.
- Nonpayment of “crazy” bills cited as the reason for the disconnection.
During the weekend, members of a satellite town in Enugu South, Ugwuaji community, protested against the action of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company. They stated that their community has been disconnected from the national grid by EEDC.
The reason for the disconnection was the nonpayment of bills. However, the community people tagged the bills as “crazy and humongous”.
In a statement by the Chairman of the Uguaji Electricity Committee and other stakeholders, the NERC has been called upon to urge EEDC to restore electricity to the community.
