  • Q ENERGY starts construction on an 8.5 MW solar park in Cahuzac-sur-Adour, set for completion by late 2025.
  • Workers repurpose a former industrial site, avoiding additional land use and generating power for 4,900 residents.
  • The project includes environmental measures, such as wildlife support and educational panels along a local hiking trail.

Q ENERGY has launched the construction of an 8.5-megawatt-peak (MW) solar park in Cahuzac-sur-Adour, Gers. The company plans to complete the project by late 2025, marking its first solar development in the department.

The plant covers 7.5 hectares on a former industrial site that housed material crushing operations until 2019. By repurposing this land, Q ENERGY avoids additional land use. Local authorities and company officials began discussions in 2018 and approved planning permission in November 2022. In March 2023, regulators selected the project under the Commission de régulation de l’énergie (CRE) tender within the Multiannual Energy Programme (PPE2).

Workers began preliminary site preparations in late 2024, focusing on road construction and ground stabilisation. Since February 2025, crews have installed foundations, cable trenches, and support structures. Once operational, the solar park will generate enough electricity for about 4,900 residents.

Local officials, including Mayor Mireille Aragnouet and municipal councillors, attended a launch meeting on January 17, 2025. Q ENERGY has also committed to environmental support measures. Teams will reshape slopes to support wildlife, install a hibernaculum, and set up educational panels along the “Sentier de l’Adour” hiking trail.

Q ENERGY’s Regional Solar Manager, Véronique Sauzay, commended local authorities for their active role and described the collaboration as “rigorous and demanding.”
