The project is financed via a public-private partnership between the REA via its Rural Electrification Fund and ACOB lighting Technology Limited.
- The 100kWp will be backed by a 150kVA diesel plant and will provide power to over 634 households as well as provide clean water under a Pay-As-you-Go business operational model.
- The facility will also be used to build capacity as it will serve as a venue for mini-grid design training for ACOB’s Mini-grid Academy.
The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and ACOB Lighting are set to commission a solar mini-grid in Olooji community of Ogun State, Nigeria on Thursday the 26th of November 2020. The project is a public-private partnership between the REA and ACOB lighting Technology Limited with the support of the Ogun State Government and the First City Monument Bank.
The project comprises of 304 solar panels as well as a 150kVA diesel generator and about 11km of distribution network. The project will operate under a Pay-As-You-Go business model and is expected to provide stable power supply to over 4,500 members of the community. The project is expected to create about 50 direct jobs for members of the community.
Consumers include residential households, commercial users and public institutions. The project will also provide Pay-As-You-Go water supply services which will provide potable water to the community and over 30,000 people in the surrounding area. The facility will also serve as an avenue for mini-grid design and site simulation training for the ACOB Lighting Academy. This ties into ACOB’s goal of providing firsthand practical knowledge and capacity building in the mini-grid space.
