REA Signs Agreement with Two Energy Developers

  • Wavelength and Maskh Nigeria to receive performance-based grants from REA.
  • Both firms will deploy a combined capacity of 280kWp.

The Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP), Project Management Unit (PMU) of Rural Electrification Agency (REA)  has signed a Performance-Based Grant agreement, a sub-component of the NEP solar mini-grid with Messrs. Wavelength and Maskh Nigeria Limited.

On behalf of the REA Managing Director/CEO Engr. Ahmad Saliho Ahmad, the Head, Project Management Unit (HPMU), NEP, Anita Otubu, performed the signing agreement with the Solar Mini-Grid Component Lead, Engr. Uche Hinnak and other NEP team members.

On delivering her opening remarks, she informed the companies that their partnership on the project and other developers that have earlier signed similar agreements is vital in improving access to electricity in the unserved and underserved rural communities of Nigeria. Therefore, she urged them to put up a high-level commitment to the execution of the projects and assured them of REA’s fulfilment of its responsibilities at all times.

In response, the companies informed her of their readiness to put in their best of both human and material resources. They assured the delivery of a state-of-the-art project that can be compared to any standard in the world within the shortest possible time.

Wavelength Integrated Power Services Limited signed for one site in Imula community Idanre LGA, Ondo State, and Maskh Nigeria Limited signed for four communities in Bauchi State, respectively. A total of 280kWp of PV Capacity installation is expected to be deployed at the sites, with proposed connections of 1,774 households and MSMEs, by the two companies in the five communities impacting approximately 8,870 Nigerians.
