  • REA and ENGIE Energy Access will be able to influence Nigerians to close Energy Gap

The Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria (REA) and ENGIE Energy Access have extended their partnership through a supplement to the existing output-based fund (OBF) agreement, which provides grant subsidies to make electricity products more affordable for final consumers.

The award is part of REA’s Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP), a private-sector-led Federal Government program to provide renewable energy access to homes, micro, small and medium enterprises in off-grid villages, tertiary institutions, and healthcare facilities across Nigeria.

In addition, the company claimed that it had reached a significant milestone by linking 50,000 households to solar electricity, affecting 250,000 people across the country. “Reaching this milestone is an incredible accomplishment for our team and evidence of not just hard work, but our commitment to bringing clean, affordable energy to those without electricity access across Nigeria,” said Bankole Cardoso, the managing director of ENGIE Energy Access Nigeria.
