The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has signed Grant Agreements with two more mini-grid developers under the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) – Performance-Based Grant. The grant agreement will see the developers – RenewviaEnergy and PowerGen Renewables – deploy solar hybrid mini-grid solutions in 14 communities in three states; Niger(Dacitagi, Dukugi, Sa’Achi Nku, Ebangi, Sosa, Gbade, Kpange, Jikanegi and Lagun), Cross River (Ekong Anaku, Balep, Opu, Bendeghe-Afi) and Rivers (Obokwu Ozuzu).

The Mini-Grid Performance-Based Grants (PBG) programme aims to make mini-grids deployments more viable for developers. Developers can access grants of US$350/connection with a minimum total grant request of US$10,000 per mini-grid. This initiative is funded by the World Bank as part of the Nigeria Electrification Project.
