Reliance Industries to Buy Up to 40% of Sterling and Wilson Solar

 

  • Sterling and Wilson Solar will sell a 15.46% stake via new shares issuance.
  • Reliance will also purchase 9.7% of the company’s post preferential share capital from Pallonji and Co. Pvt. Ltd.

Reliance Industries has agreed to acquire about a 40 per cent stake in Sterling and Wilson Solar through its clean energy unit Reliance New Energy Solar. The companies made this known via separate statements on Sunday. Sterling and Wilson stated that it had agreed to sell a 15.46 per cent stake to RNESL for 10.99 billion rupees ($146.3 million) via the issuance of new shares. In addition, reliance stated that Shapoorji Pallonji and Co. Pvt. Ltd, one of Sterling and Wilson promoters, will also sell 18.4 million shares to RNESL for 375 rupees per share.
