- Renewvia Energy deploys mini-grids in Niger Delta Communities.
- Renewvia aims to connect 350,000 to clean energy systems by 2024
Renewvia Solar now serves over 10,000 individuals and businesses in eight communities in the Niger Delta through thousands of metered connections resulting from these new installations. Balep, Bendeghe-Afi and more regions are among the communities already connected to a Renewvia mini-grid. The mini-grid was deployed under the World Bank-funded Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) being implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). The NEP is designed to provide clean, safe, and reliable electricity, boost economic growth through increased productivity, and improve the living conditions of thousands of rural residents and businesses.
Renewvia’s Chief Executive Officer, Trey Jarrad, stated, “as a leading renewable energy provider, Renewvia Energy is driven to constantly improve lives, contribute to building a more sustainable environment, and advance social impact opportunities in places we operate.” As a result, we are committed to assisting individuals and small businesses in thriving and positively impacting their immediate community, he added. “Our impact goes beyond providing access to cleaner, more reliable, and affordable energy to assisting Nigeria in realizing her global energy transition mandate of reducing carbon emissions to zero by 2060, as stated at the recently concluded Climate Change Conference (COP 26).
By 2024, Renewvia’s mini-grid portfolio and project pipeline will serve over 350,000 individuals and small businesses in remote off-grid areas, offsetting 2800 tons of CO2 and creating hundreds of construction and full-time jobs.
