Romania’s Renewable Energy Scheme Nears EU Approval

Romania expects the European Commission’s approval for its pending renewable energy support scheme by January. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development assisted in building the scheme’s legal framework, aiming for operational readiness by August.

The country will soon launch its first auction for 2 GW of onshore wind and solar energy projects funded through CfD (Contract-for-difference). These contracts set agreed-upon electricity prices, supporting low-carbon energy initiatives.
