rPlus Energies and utility PacifiCorp, a renewables developer, have changed an existing power off-take deal for the Green River solar storage project in Utah, allowing the energy storage component’s planned size to be quadrupled.
rPlus said the long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) will cover the purchase of 400 MW of solar power and 1,600 MWh of storage instead of 400 MWh as initially agreed.
US electricity provider PacifiCorp, part of Berkshire Hathaway and rPlus, signed the initial agreement in October 2022. They have now stated that the revision will make the project one of the largest solar-plus-storage developments in the US.
rPlus said it plans to tap the market to secure tax and debt financing for the project later this year.
