ENEL Russia has been granted the authorisation to begin the functioning of its Azovskaya wind farm. The wind farm has a capacity of 90 MW and has the right to start operation from May 1st. The wind farm cost €132 million and consists of twenty-six (26) turbines.
The farm is located in Azov, on 133 hectares of land and is expected to generate 320 GWh of electricity annually. This project is also expected to reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions of about 260,000 tonnes.
The Azovskaya wind farm is one among three being developed by ENEL Russia. The other two are the 201-MW Kolskaya and the 71-MW Rodnikovksya projects. ENEL hopes to eventually get the requirements that grant it access to 100% payments from the sale of electricity from the wind farm to the Russian electricity market.
