- Energicotel to issue a corporate bond

Independent Power Producer (IPP), Energy Conception and Transmission of Electricity (Energicotel) has announced its plans to borrow Rwf6.5 billion through a ten-year bond. Following the Capital Market Authority (CMA) approval, Energicotel will be listed and traded on the Rwanda Stock Exchange (RSE) on 26th July 2021.
In a statement, Executive Director Energicotel Ferdy Turasenga, said ”We are thrilled with the regulatory approval to issue and list our corporate bond on the Rwandan Stock Exchange (RSE)”. ”We are excited to continue on our trajectory of dynamic within the renewable energy space, with our core business of power generation and engineering consultancy”, he added.
Energicotel operates the Keya, Nkora, and Cyimbili hydropower plants in Rwanda and invested Rwf48 billion for the generation of 3.2MW and the supply of 17MW to the national grid in 2020. It will be the first Rwandan IPP to list and trade on the RSE.
