- RWE AG secures power purchase agreements (PPAs) for its Kaskasi offshore wind farm.
- Contracts with six German industrial entities guarantee off-take of all electricity produced.
German energy giant RWE AG announces power purchase agreements (PPAs) for its 342-megawatt Kaskasi offshore wind farm off Germany’s coast. The agreements, revealed Monday, allocate all electricity output from the 38-turbine facility to corporate offtake arrangements.
Following its initial PPA with Schwarz Group in 2023, RWE Supply & Trading seals additional contracts with six German industrial entities. These include DHL Group, Ensinger, Evonik, Infraserv Hoechst, ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe, and Vodafone.
Contracts span primarily ten years and feature various electricity procurement models tailored to partners’ needs. These models include direct purchase, scheduled delivery, and baseload delivery.
Agreements commence as early as 2026, with subsequent contracts in 2027 and 2028, ensuring steady revenue for RWE. RWE affirms that all electricity generated by the Kaskasi wind farm will be absorbed through these PPAs.
Kaskasi wind farm, situated approximately 35 kilometres off Heligoland’s coast, began operations in early 2023. RWE’s strategic manoeuvring underscores its position in renewable energy and growing corporate demand for sustainable solutions.
