The Sahara Group energy conglomerate recently celebrated its twenty-fifth (25th) year anniversary. Founded in 1996, the group has done a lot in changing Africa’s energy story for the better. Its energy initiatives which have reframed the African energy market were among many of the reasons to bring joy at Sahara Group’s Silver Jubilee.
The Group’s executive director, Temitope Shonubi, said on the occasion, “today, the narrative is rapidly changing with Sahara at the vanguard of the transformational story from Africa to the world. Founded in 1996 with an initial focus in oil trading, Sahara Group is widely regarded as a leading energy conglomerate renowned for championing capacity building and promoting the ‘the best in Africa for Africa’ to the world narrative globally.”
Shonubi continued by listing knowledge as being Sahara’s business tool for the past twenty-five (25) years, adding that the conglomerate’s greatest value was in its diversity in both people and network.
On future plans, Shonubi listed an increase in investments in certain areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), technology, and human capital transformation, as the catalyst for the Group’s stage of extension. He added, “still, at Sahara, we are focussed on remarkable growth and grateful for the opportunity to serve and bring energy to life across global markets.”
To mark Sahara Group’s silver jubilee, activities with the theme “Harnessing Safe Energy Today” are planned for the year 2021. These activities are meant to focus on improving renewable transitioning in the energy industry.
The conglomerate’s growth in the international market has led to it amassing an annual revenue of over ten billion dollars ($10,000,000,000). Through its operations in over forty (40) countries, the Group has well over four thousand (4,000) employees.
