Salpha Energy has secured a ₦2 billion investment from All On, a Shell-backed impact investment company, to expand access to clean, reliable energy in Nigeria’s off-grid communities.
In a statement released on Monday, May 26, Salpha Energy confirmed that the funding will allow the company to significantly scale up its operations, diversify its solar product offerings, and expand its solar assembly facility. The move marks a major milestone in Salpha’s mission to provide sustainable energy solutions tailored to the needs of African communities.
Meanwhile, Sandra Chukwudozie, Founder and CEO of Salpha Energy, welcomed the investment as a transformative boost to the company’s ambitious growth plans.
“This investment marks a huge step forward in our goal to design and assemble solar systems in Africa, for Africa,” she said. “It’s not just about access to electricity; it’s about dignity, productivity, and opportunity for the over 600 million people across Sub-Saharan Africa who remain off-grid.”
All On, which provides capital and support to businesses driving Nigeria’s energy transition, expressed confidence in Salpha’s approach and impact. Caroline Eboumbou, CEO of All On, highlighted the importance of investing in local companies and addressing financing challenges within the sector.
“All On is happy to provide local currency financing to help local industries solve the long-standing currency mismatch risk,” Eboumbou said. “This investment aligns directly with our mission to bridge the access-to-energy gap in Nigeria by backing indigenous companies innovating for impact.”
Furthermore, Salpha Energy’s solar systems range from 150 watts to 100 kilowatts with battery storage and smart inverters. The company designs these systems to meet the unique energy demands of African households, micro-enterprises, and institutions in off-grid and weak-grid regions.
The company’s products support critical services such as lighting, refrigeration, ventilation, and powering medical equipment in primary healthcare centres, schools, and small businesses. So far, Salpha Energy reports impacting over two million lives across Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the company plans to use the new investment to enhance local production capacity and develop more cost-effective, reliable energy solutions for underserved communities. Expanding its assembly facility is also expected to create jobs and foster technical innovation within Nigeria’s clean energy sector.
The partnership between Salpha Energy and All On reinforces a shared commitment to sustainable development and economic empowerment through clean energy access.
“This strategic collaboration underscores the importance of supporting local innovation in addressing energy poverty and building resilience in off-grid communities,” the company stated.
With this new capital injection, Salpha Energy will accelerate its contribution to Nigeria’s energy transition and strengthen its position as a leader in solar energy adoption across Sub-Saharan Africa.
