Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited has commissioned a 500kW ground-mounted solar PV plant in its Beitbridge juice plant. The company’s MD, Charles Msipa, stated that they were working with the Zimbabwe Electricity and Distribution Company (ZETDC) on an agreement that will allow them to feed power into the grid.
The MD stated that the solar power plant would run from June to September, during the citrus season and during the offseason, the plant will supply power to the national grid. “It has been fully commissioned and running. What is outstanding is to finalise net metering with the ZETDC) so that we can get credit for the power that we supply into the main grid,” Msipa added.
