- Wind park to have 409MW capacity.
- Sixty-two turbines are expected to be installed.
- Wind park to power 440,000 UK homes.
Muirhall Energy, a Scottish renewables developer, is seeking approval to construct a 409MW wind park in the Scottish Borders council area.
The company revealed that it had applied to the Tevion Wind Farm project with the government of Scotland already.
In Muirhall Energy’s proposal, 62 turbines are expected to be installed at a site to the east of Teviothead. Plans are also being made for a solar photovoltaic (PV) array and battery storage capacity. Initially, 75 turbines were planned for installation of about 522 MW combined capacity. However, the proposal for this initial plan was trimmed in order to take into account feedback from local residents and community groups.
Muirhall Energy, depending on the government’s approval of the project, will launch a community investment initiative that will give community groups the privilege of own9ng 10% of the wind farm.
Based on Muirhall Energy’s estimates, the wind park is expected to produce enough electricity for the energy demand of about 440,000 UK homes.
