- Sen’Eau and Total Energies will construct 20 MWp solar water solutions power plants in Mékhé and Keur Momar Sarr.
- Plants are expected to cover 32% of water facility energy needs, reducing costs and emissions.
Sen’Eau and Total Energies have partnered to construct two solar water solutions power plants. The total is 20 MWp to support the water infrastructure in Mékhé and Keur Momar Sarr.
The collaboration involves Total Energies Renewables Distributed Generation Middle East Africa (DG MEA), a subsidiary of Total Energies. The larger plant at Keur Momar Sarr is set to produce 25 GWh annually. Which would cater to 32% of the energy requirements for a water production facility.
Keur Momar Sarr will boast Senegal’s largest water production site by 2021. It will be producing 200,000 m3 daily, sourced from Lac de Guiers. In Thiès, the second solar power station (20 GWh per year) will serve 32% of the Mékhé booster station’s electricity needs.
To kick off simultaneously in 2024, these projects aim to enhance energy efficiency, reduce operational costs, and cut CO2 emissions, per Sen’Eau.
