Seplat Energy Boosts Nigeria’s Gas Supply with $700 Million ANOH Project

Seplat Energy Plc is poised to significantly enhance Nigeria’s energy landscape through its latest initiatives, which aim to elevate the company’s gas processing capacity to an impressive 850 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd). This strategic expansion reinforces Seplat’s role as a pivotal gas supplier in the Nigerian market.

At the ongoing Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigerian Council’s 47th Nigeria Annual International Conference & Exhibition (NAICE) in Lagos, Seplat Energy’s Director of New Energy, Mr Okechukwu Mba, delivered a keynote address highlighting the company’s ambitious plans. Representing Seplat’s CEO, Mr. Roger Brown, Mba spoke on the conference theme: “Petroleum Industry Value Chain Optimisation: The Inevitability of Midstream and Downstream Development.”

Mba underscored the significant impact of Seplat’s new $700 million ANOH gas project in Imo State in his address. This project is set to add 300MMscfd to Seplat’s gas processing capacity and produce Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). This significant development is expected to substantially bolster the domestic gas supply, addressing the energy deficit in Nigeria.

Furthermore, Mba announced that Seplat Energy is nearing the completion of a new 85MMscfd gas plant in Sapele, Delta State, which is scheduled to come online by the fourth quarter of this year. Once operational, this plant will contribute to the company’s overall gas processing capacity, consolidating its position as a leading supplier in the domestic market.

In addition to these projects, Seplat Energy is exploring investment opportunities in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiatives, aligning with the government’s CNG promotion efforts. Mba also revealed that Seplat plans to promptly develop significant gas resources from the MPNU transaction once it receives approval, further strengthening Nigeria’s energy security.

Seplat Energy’s strategic projects and investments reflect the company’s commitment to addressing Nigeria’s energy needs and optimising the petroleum industry’s value chain. As Seplat continues to advance its initiatives, it remains a crucial player in enhancing the country’s energy infrastructure and supply capabilities.
