Serbia secures support from financial institutions for its 1 GW solar project with storage. Deputy Prime Minister Sinisa Mali announced construction will start in 2024. Export–Import Bank of the United States (US EXIM), Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), and Swedish Export Credit Corporation provide backing.
The project aims to establish five clean power facilities with 1.2 GWp capacity and 200 MW of energy storage by 2028. State-owned utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) will oversee construction.
Serbia partners will work with Hyundai Engineering, Hyundai ENG America, and UGT Renewables for the project. Talks with Hyundai Engineering Co Ltd are already underway.
