Shell Champions Innovation, Policy Reform at 2025 Oloibiri Energy Forum

  • At the Oloibiri Energy Forum, Shell highlighted its recent $5 billion final investment decision for the Bonga North Deepwater project.
  • These developments resonate with the pioneering spirit of Nigeria’s first oil discovery in Oloibiri, Bayelsa State, in 1956.

At the 2025 Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum (OLEF), Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo) emphasised the critical role of policy and technological innovation in advancing Nigeria’s energy sector.

The event, organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council, focused on the theme “Driving Energy Sustainability Through Technology, Policy, and Supply Chain Excellence.”

Ronald Adams, Managing Director of SNEPCo, highlighted the significance of OLEF as a platform for meaningful discourse in the energy industry.

In a goodwill message delivered by Joe Mordi, General Manager of Wells and Geosciences Operations, Adams stated, “This event is special to the Shell brand, not only because of the nostalgia of Oloibiri but also because of the quality of discourse it has fostered in our sector over the years.”

Adams also referenced Shell’s recent $5 billion final investment decision for the Bonga North Deepwater project, noting that such developments resonate with the pioneering spirit of Nigeria’s first oil discovery in Oloibiri, Bayelsa State, in 1956. He emphasised that these strides require a commitment to excellence for stakeholders, colleagues, the country, and future generations.

The OLEF 2025 forum brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and technocrats to discuss strategies for enhancing energy sustainability in Nigeria. The event underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in policy reform, technological advancement, and supply chain optimisation to drive the nation’s energy sector forward.

As Nigeria navigates the global energy transition, forums like OLEF are vital platforms for charting a resilient and inclusive energy future that aligns with the nation’s economic development goals and commitment to sustainable growth.
