According to Siemens, the two companies are already developing the first asynchronous phase shifter called Asynchronous Rotating Energy System Stabilizer for a network frequency of 50 Hertz. This technology will help in the clean energy transition, especially as the increased feed-in of renewable, volatile energy, for example from wind and sun, will lead to noticeable changes in the power grids in the future.
As fluctuating renewable energy sources increase, the transmission networks’ operational requirements in Germany and Europe are changing. The innovative technology developed by both companies will prevent many transmission systems from going offline and enable the seamless integration of clean energy sources.
