- Siemens Energy still holds onto Siemens Gamesa.
- Siemens Energy saw its net loss increase to EUR 377 million in the second quarter
According to CEO Christian Bruch, Siemens Energy AG does not plan to sell its majority stake in Siemens Gamesa despite significant investment losses recorded by the firm. “This is not an option we are investigating right now,” Bruch told media after Siemens Energy’s first-half report.
Siemens Energy, whose operations include gas and coal-fired power plants and wind turbines, turned to a net loss of EUR 252 million in its second-quarter through March 2022, owing primarily to the ailing Siemens Gamesa.
In a report by Renewables Now, Siemens Energy owns a 67 per cent share in the wind turbine manufacturer and witnessed its net loss increase to EUR 377 million in the second quarter from EUR 66 million. Supply chain problems and fewer wind turbine revenues hurt the company’s performance and internal issues.
“The performance of SGRE, which is weighing hard on Siemens Energy, has once again been disappointing. Since the latest profit warning, the situation at SGRE has gotten worse. As the main shareholder, we contribute our knowledge to solve problems and address challenges,” Bruch added.
