Siemens Gamesa has reached an agreement with Eurus Energy for the supply of Typhon resistant turbines.
- Eurus Energy will install the turbines for its 339.7MW Dohoku IV project wind farm.
- The project is scheduled for commissioning in 2023.
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has agreed with Eurus Energy for the supply turbines for the 339.7MW Dohoku IV project wind farm cluster in Japan. Japanese wind farms require specifically designed typhoon-resistant turbines to withstand high wind speeds. Siemens Gamesa will supply 79 units of typhoon-class machines and provide technical field assistance for the construction and commissioning of all four projects.
The commissioning of the Dohoku wind farm cluster is scheduled for the second half of 2023.
Russell Cato, the managing director of Siemens Gamesa in Japan, noted that the company is the first to develop a 4.3 MW typhoon type certified onshore turbines. Siemens Gamesa has operated in Japan for the past 20 years. The company has installed 520MW of wind turbines in the country and currently has 353MW capacity under operation and maintenance.
