Silicon Ranch to Partner with Green Power to Deploy Solar Plant in Georgia

  • Green Power EMC and Silicon Ranch will partner in 252MW solar photovoltaic (PV) projects.
  • The project will become operational in 2023 and 2024.

Silicon Ranch Corporation, an independent renewable power producer in the US, sponsored by Royal Dutch Shell plc, noted that it had clinched a deal to collaborate with Green Power EMC in three projects over the next three years. Silicon Ranch will finance the schemes, own, operate and maintain the solar plants. In addition, green Power EMC, which provides renewable energy for 38 Georgia electric membership corporations (EMCs), will purchase the generated electricity and environmental attributes on behalf of 16 of its member cooperatives.
The proposed capacity will be located in southern Georgia and installed in stages. Once up and running, the plants will produce enough electricity to supply more than 44,000 EMC homes per year.
Silicon Ranch and Green Power EMC have partnered in over 1GW of solar projects in Georgia, representing an investment of over USD 1 billion (EUR 872.6m).
