- Simply Blue Group announces expansion of portfolio to include offshore wind project in Northern Ireland
- The Project has a potential capacity of 1.3 GW
- Olympic Offshore Wind will have the option of being developed in phases.
Irish company Simply Blue Group has announced its plan to expand its development portfolio to include a floating offshore wind project in Northern Ireland with a potential capacity of 1.3 GW. Off the coast of County Down is the Olympic Offshore Wind project. It is a sibling project to Nomadic Offshore Wind, a 500 MW or more offshore wind project disclosed earlier this year. The business’s second offshore wind project was announced for Northern Ireland.
According to Simply Blue, Olympic Offshore Wind will have the option of being developed in phases and will present a chance to establish a local supply chain.
Steven Agnew, the executive director of Renewable Northern Ireland, responded to the announcement by stating: “It is crucial that government matches the ambition of the Simply Blue Group and puts in place the consenting environment needed to support a robust offshore renewables economy.”
