Six Developers Shortlisted for 1GW Offshore Wind Project in France

The French government has pre-selected six bidders for the construction of a 1-GW wind farm off the region of Normandy in the English Channel. The shortlisted candidates will take part in a competitive dialogue where they will be given a chance to improve their proposals. The winner is going to be announced in 2022 while the wind farm is expected to be completed in 2028. The winning developer will be tasked with the construction, operation and maintenance of the wind park. Project financing and management are also included.

The six pre-qualified bidders include;

  • Eoliennes en Mer Manche Normandie (JV of EDF Renewables, Maple Power)
  • Iberdrola Renovables France
  • Ocean Winds (JV of Engie, EDPR)
  • Shell
  • Total-RWE consortium
  •  Vattenfall-Wpd-Banque des Territoires consortium

France has targets of having 2.4 GW capacity of offshore wind projects by 2023. The country is also seeking to double its renewable energy capacity to 113 GW by 2028.
