40,000 people in Nigeria’s Borno State now have access to a new drinking water supply system. Babagana Umara Zulum, the governor of Borno, recently opened the water system in the community of Mboa, located five kilometers from the town of Chibok.

The goal is to increase the availability of drinking water in this state of Nigeria, which is experiencing a water shortage. Twenty motorized boreholes are part of the water delivery system, which also includes a 100 KVA generator, a 36 kWp solar photovoltaic system, and other electrical components.

The water that is pumped from the groundwater table is kept in two above-ground tanks. The above-ground tank has a storage capacity of 750 m3 of drinking water. The second installment has a 500 m3 capacity.

By completing this project, the Borno State Government is aiding the Federal Government of Nigeria to ensure everyone has access to safe water by 2030. According to the World Bank, 60 million people in Nigeria still do not have access to essential drinking water services.
