A crewless solar-powered vehicle has been circling the Earth for almost three years and landed in Florida. The spaceship landed at NASA‘s Kennedy Space Center on Saturday after launching its sixth mission in May 2020, spending 908 days in space.
The test vehicle, built by Boeing, hosted a solar energy experiment that successfully harnessed solar rays outside of Earth’s atmosphere and aimed to transmit power to the ground in the form of radio frequency microwave energy.
Another experiment looked at the impacts of long-duration space exposure on seeds; this experiment is expected to inform future projects involving space crop production.
