- Solarise Africa and RUBiS Energy Kenya have launched a joint venture, RUBiSOL, to provide renewable energy solutions to businesses in East Africa.
- The venture will install solar panels at RUBiS’s service stations, reducing its carbon footprint and supporting the adoption of sustainable energy.
- RUBiSOL will help businesses reduce energy costs and improve security, contributing to East Africa’s clean energy transition.
Solarise Africa, a pan-African energy-as-a-service company, has partnered with RUBiS Energy Kenya, a subsidiary of France’s Rubis Energie, to create a joint venture called RUBiSOL. The venture will focus on expanding renewable energy solutions across East Africa, targeting commercial and industrial (C&I) clients.
The joint venture will leverage Solarise Africa’s expertise in decentralised solar and renewable energy technologies to offer businesses reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy alternatives. RUBiS Energy Kenya, with its extensive presence in East Africa, will help accelerate the region’s transition to clean energy.
RUBiS Energy Kenya operates over 500 service stations in Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Burundi, Zambia, and Kenya. The company distributes petroleum products and plays a key role in the energy sector. As part of the RUBiSOL initiative, RUBiS Energy Kenya will install solar panels at its stations and depots to reduce its carbon footprint, aligning with global sustainability goals.
Jan Albert Valk, Co-Founder and CEO of Solarise Africa, emphasised the importance of the partnership. “We are excited to partner with RUBiS Energy Kenya,” Valk said. “Our combined expertise in renewable energy solutions and RUBiS’s strong market presence will help businesses in East Africa access clean, reliable energy.”
RUBiS Energy Kenya’s CEO, Olivier Sabrie, echoed Valk’s sentiment. “By collaborating with Solarise Africa, we are taking a significant step towards a sustainable future,” Sabrie said. “RUBiSOL will expand our energy portfolio and provide innovative, sustainable solutions for our clients.”
The joint venture’s focus on decentralised solar energy will address the growing demand for alternative power sources in East Africa. Many businesses in the region face unreliable electricity grids, leading to disruptions and higher operational costs. RUBiSOL’s renewable energy offerings will help companies to reduce energy costs and improve energy security.
Solarise Africa’s experience in decentralised energy solutions will be key to RUBiSOL’s success. The company provides businesses with off-grid and grid-connected solar systems, offering flexible solutions tailored to specific needs.
RUBiS Energy Kenya’s infrastructure and market reach will also be key to the joint venture’s success. The company’s widespread network of service stations will serve as ideal locations for solar installations, helping RUBiSOL scale quickly and reach a broad customer base across East Africa.
RUBiSOL’s impact will go beyond providing solar energy to businesses. The venture supports East Africa’s broader clean energy goals as countries in the region work towards reducing carbon emissions and increasing renewable energy in their power mix.
The collaboration will also contribute to local economies by creating green jobs in the renewable energy sector. Installing and maintaining solar systems will require skilled workers, addressing unemployment and promoting sustainable development across the region.
The joint venture marks a significant step towards a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for East Africa. With the combined resources and expertise of Solarise Africa and RUBiS Energy Kenya, RUBiSOL stands poised to lead the adoption of renewable energy solutions across the region.
