Malaysian solar firm Solarvest Holdings has been selected for a Scientex Berhad project that will install about 21 MW of rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems across the group’s facilities in the country. Scientex Berhad is a Packaging firm and property developer based in Malaysia.

Likewise, the contract covers 10 manufacturing plants and Scientex’s headquarters. The project will start in May 2024 and be completed by January 2025.

Scientex said that the sites will eliminate about 14,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually after inaugurating the project. Also, Scientex has been integrating renewable energy into its operations since 2022 as part of its carbon footprint reduction strategy.

With the commissioning of the new capacities, more than 80 per cent of the company’s manufacturing sites in Malaysia will use renewable energy from solar systems.

Scientex is making a major push in renewable energy with this nationwide solar project. Expanding its solar footprint across most of its manufacturing facilities reduces carbon footprint by 14,000 tCO2e annually and solidifies its commitment to ESG leadership.

Furthermore, “our initiatives align with our commitment to supporting our customers locally and internationally in achieving their sustainability goals within the supply chain. Through these collaborative efforts, we are paving the way for a more sustainable future.” Said Mr Lim Peng Jin CEO Scientex Berhad.

The firm’s commitment to renewable energy sets a powerful example for the manufacturing sector, demonstrating how businesses can significantly reduce their environmental footprint in their value chain. This collaboration signifies the commitment of two Malaysian companies to a sustainable economy.
