- Cape Town carries out maintenance exercise
- To refurbish existing transmission lines
The City of Cape Town will carry out a maintenance exercise on its transmission lines. The city will refurbish high voltage transmission lines in a project that costs R22 million. The project involves the insulation of 66kV and 132kV high voltage power lines with the newest generation silicone rubber composite insulators.
Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Energy and Climate Change, Phindile Maxiti, has said the project would ensure that 66kV and 132kV high voltage power lines in Cape Town are protected and safe to operate for the next 25 years.
”This is in line with the Energy and Climate Change Directorate’s vision of providing a safe and reliable power supply to all energy users within the city. We thank our teams for their hard work and dedication,” Maxiti said.
