- Eskom says weather conditions may force load shedding
- Pleads with customers to reduce consumption
South Africa’s energy company, Eskom, has pleaded with consumers to conserve electricity in the coming days. This comes as the South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a warning on expected wet, windy and cold conditions in parts of the country. According to the SAWS, strong winds are anticipated, which may result in property damages.
In a statement by Eskom, the company says. “….the cold front will increase the demand for electricity, thereby putting pressure on the power system. Therefore, Eskom urges the people of South Africa to help reduce electricity usage in order to ease pressure on the system”.
Eskom said it would communicate promptly should there be any significant changes to the performance of the system.
