In a tweet by state-owned utility Eskom, residents have been notified of a power outage. According to Eskom, the outage was caused by power theft at the Nkomazi substation. As a result, customers in Kamhlushwa, Mzinti, kaMadlala, Langeloop, PhIva, Tonga, Dludluma, KaMaqhekeza, Block A, B & C, Ngwenyeni, Mangweni and Ntunda are affected by the outage.

The substation was vandalised, resulting in ”extreme damage to the electrical infrastructure,” Eskom said. Eskom is currently working to restore supply at the substation; however, the utility has advised customers in the affected area that there is no Expected Time of Restoration (ETR) of electricity supply to the affected areas.
