- South Africa to add 3,000MW gas-generated electricity to the national grid
The Petroleum Agency of South Africa has announced that an additional 3,000MW of gas-generated electricity will be added to the national grid in early 2022. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Phindile Masangane says an additional 3 000 megawatts of gas-generated electricity is expected to be added to the national electricity grid early next year. Masangane announced this at the Africa Energy Week Conference in Cape Town.
”Our Minister has announced that we are going to procure, immediately, 3 000 megawatts of gas, and we expect that to happen in the early part of the year,” Masangane said.
