- EPC contractor will operate and maintain the solar system for five years.
Pretoria-based Cennergi Holdings Proprietary Limited, through its special purpose vehicle Exxaro Resources is seeking engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for five years operations and maintenance contract for a solar project at its Grootegeluk coal mine located in the Limpopo province. The selected Contractor will install and operate the planned 70MWac Lephalale Solar photovoltaic (PV) Farm, a grid-connected array at the mine.
A request-for-information tender document published on the website of trade body the South Africa Photovoltaic Industry Association (SAPVIA) stated that interested applicants must have EPC and operating/maintenance experience of at least three 50 MWac-plus solar sites. According to the RFP, the selected Contractor shall:
- provide a “turn-key” 70MWac solar PV power plant and the related infrastructure and grid connection Project.
- Be responsible for all aspects of the Project, including the detailed engineering investigations, design, manufacture, procurement, supply, shipping and importation, planned storage, delivery, construction, erection, installation, commissioning, testing, energisation and providing Performance Guarantees of the complete Project.
- Be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Project for five years. be responsible for a fully wrapped EPC and O&M model, where all EPC and O&M risks are fully wrapped by the Contractor.
Interested bidders have until October 19 to submit their proposals.
