- South Australia plans to draft new legislation for Green Hydrogen.
- The framework will include the production of all varieties of hydrogen.
- South Australia aspires to be a world-class clean hydrogen supplier by 2030.
South Australia’s government plans to draft new legislation to streamline the permitting process for hydrogen projects and accelerate the industry’s expansion in the Australian state. This was made known at the Australian Hydrogen Conference in Adelaide.
According to state premier Peter Malinauskas, the framework will include the production of all varieties of hydrogen, including green and blue hydrogen. The new legislation will act as a single entry point for government licensing and regulating hydrogen generation plants, similar to how other industries are regulated.
The country plans to be a world-class green hydrogen supplier by 2030, to generate 100% renewable electricity. In 2019, the state released an action plan with five specific points addressing the scale-up of renewable hydrogen production for export and domestic consumption.
