Korea Electric Power Corp, its subsidiary Korea Western Power, and Samsung C&T Corp have teamed up with Petrolyn Chemie, a joint venture between Petrolyn and Chemie Tech based in the United Arab Emirates.
The consortium members announced that they had reached an agreement to allow the construction of a green hydrogen and ammonia manufacturing plant in the UAE.
Under the terms of the collaborative development agreement, the businesses will construct a facility capable of producing 35,000 tonnes of green ammonia yearly, which will be ramped up to 200,000 tonnes later. The capacity will be erected in two stages near Abu Dhabi, in the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi.
Each phase’s installation timeframes were not specified.
The effort’s goal is to build a platform that will serve as a business model for green hydrogen technology development, investment, production, distribution, and logistics. According to the partners, the project will help the UAE reduce its carbon footprint and achieve its carbon neutrality objective by 2050.
